Still in Oregon/Happy Easter

March 20, 2008 Welcome to spring.
The sun is shinning right now but it may be raining in a few. We are in Seaside, OR which is on the northern coast.  It is cool and has been rainy.
Since my last letter, we have been to CA and back to Seattle and now Seaside.  We spent 3 days in CA because of a dental appointment for Ric. We drove the car down and left the motor home in OR.  We then returned and drove to Vancouver, WA, across the river from Portland and had dinner with Ric's daughter, husband and grandson. We enjoyed it very much.  It is always nice to visit with family.

We then drove on up to Seattle where we enjoyed 2 weeks parked at the Elks in Burien (S. SEATTLE) We had several lunches with David, dinner with him and
Angel and David cooked breakfast and dinner at their house several times for us.  He is an excellent cook. Angel is studying a lot as she is going to school at night studying to be a diagnostic ultra sound technician. She is an A student and working full time and studying and going to school keeps her very busy. David also worked on my computer for which I am always very grateful.  I think we have all the kinks out of it now and it will be working for a long time to come.  I am now an avid Mac (Apple) fan.

We had lots of rain but also several beautiful days of sunshine where we could see Mt. Rainier.  That is always a majestic sight.

We left Seattle area Sunday and drove to Olympia and then west to the ocean and south to Seaside.  We saw lots of storm damage from the rain and high winds they had in November.  There were so many broken trees in some places it looked as if the hillsides had been logged but they weren't.  Such a shame.

We had lunch in Astoria a couple of days ago and the restaurant overlooked the mouth of the Hood River.  It is big and the view was beautiful.  It was a sunny day and couldn't have been more lovely.

We will leave in a few days for Florence, OR where we will leave our motor home until June when we pick it up to go to Alaska.  With the prices of gas we decided to just drive the car home.  Dale and Val, our friends with whom we are going to Alaska, graciously offered to let us leave it at their place out in the forest where they live.

We will arrive in Live Oak the night of March 29.  We will be home for the most part then until June.  We have a granddaughter graduating from eighth grade and we want to be there for her big occasion.

We are sure wondering about you who live in the mid west with all the flooding going on there.  Be sure and let us know.  Ohio seems to be getting a double whammy-snow and now rain.  NH still is getting snow we see.  The weather has been quite something this year.

To all of you, have a glorious Easter.  Write when you can as we love to hear from you always.

Love and regards to all,
Mom, Dad, Grandmother, Granddaddy, Ric and Jan(ice)
