Fwd: 8 great iPhotos Glacier National Park

July 15, 2012

Hi,

On our way to Glacier we went through Flathead Indian Reservation and the very large Flathead Lake which is 200 square miles.  It was very picturesque.

We then started through Glacier  and had a most scenic trip. We stopped at the Visitor's Center hoping to see a movie of the history of the park but they had none.  We traveled about 18 or so miles on the floor of the mountains which was beautiful.  We passed a very large lake while driving there.  We were on Going to the Sun Road which is only open in the summer.  Then we started going up to the top of the mountains  which took quite a few miles to do.  Again it was very scenic.
Once on the top we drove about 20 miles on a narrow 2 lane road which had some road construction going on.  We were stopped about 20 minutes so we had time to take some good pictures.  We also saw some mountain goats (traveling together) and I took a close up (right by the car) of a white one and when I looked at it there was a baby with it too and I had not even noticed it.  We were moving at the time so I took the picture quickly. Nice surprise.
We saw the same double falls for many miles and from the floor to the high mountains.  We were over 8,900 feet up,   There were lots of falls and much water and quite a bit of snow.

Finally after some 20 or so miles on the top we began to descend.  I am so glad we did this but I don't cherish the idea of driving that road again!! Once was enough but it sure was beautiful.  When we finally got out of the park (about some 60 miles across, we returned to Montana and soon lost the mountains and had prairies. What a difference in not many miles.

Further east we went through Harve MT which we had driven through  8 or so years ago.  We had stopped at a Farmer's Market at that time at a little park in town.  We saw it again and remembered it again.  It was and is a neat little town.

We continued our trip on  Hwy 2  to Wolf Point MT where we  turned southeast and hit  I-94 that brought us through part of the Badlands and some scenic parts of North Dakota and into Bismarck Thursday.

Bismarck is a lovely, hilly city and is actually quite nice.  We have not a lot of it yet but plan to this week.  It is good to visit with our daughter Sharon, Lito and granddaughter Courtney.  Chelsey and Brent will be here the end of Julty.

Our next main stop with be Bethany Seminy in Richmond IN where we will volunteer for a couple of months.

And what are you up to?  Enjoy and keep in touch.

Love to all, Ric and Jan(ice)

July 10, 2012

Hi all,
It has been a while.  These pictures were taken in the last 2 weeks in Seattle.  We spent 10 days there at the beginning of our 4 month trip to Indiana and back.  There will be more to come soon.
Take care.
