Happy 4th of July
Hello family and friends,
We are on the road again for a while. We left Live Oak June 17 and
plan to be gone for a month or so.
Our first night out was in a motel in Mineral CA since our motor home
was in Florence Oregon. We spent Tuesday at a camp we usually attend
for a week and we wanted to see friends there. The camp was great
but the motel was not. Never again at Mineral Lodge!!
The next morning we left for Florence and arrived at our second home
which is Dale Hood's place. It was good to see him again. We spent
a couple of nights before taking off in our motor home for Albany, OR
where we had lunch with Ric's daughter and to our surprise his
granddaughter and great granddaughter. What a pleasant surprise.
After an enjoyable lunch we headed on up I-5 for the Elks in
Vancouver, WA. We had breakfast the next morning with another of
Ric's daughters and her hubby. Again we enjoyed their company and
realized the time was just too short.
We then came on up to the Burien Elks where we spent almost 2 weeks.
We saw David and Angel several times. We took David to lunch several
times and then had dinner at their house a couple of times which was
a treat for us.
The weather in Seattle was sunny and cool most of the time. No rain
and nights were cold. Days were mostly in the 70's
Last week end we drove the car down to Dallas, OR which is west of
Salem for a big birthday in Ric's family. He had a granddaughter
turning one, a great granddaughter turning two, a daughter turning ?
(won't divulge that) and a former mother in law turning 90. He saw
some people he had not seen in many years and others he had seen more
recently. Anyway, we had a good time and we spent the night there in
a very nice motel.
We drove back to Seattle and stayed for several days more at the Elks.
Wednesday, we took the motor home into Camping World for some service
work and then came down to Tacoma to McChord AFBase to their RV
Park. What a beautiful park they have. It is a forest with very tall
trees and lots of space between rigs. It is on a first come first
served basis so after we dropped the motor home off, we drove here
and made reservations for a week.
Today we met David in Tacoma for lunch and walked around and saw some
neat sights. It is the Tall Ships Festival and we were just across
the street from some of them. We went into the old Grand Central
Station which is now a Federal Court House. It is close to the Glass
Museum and it had lots of glass art displayed in it.
After lunch we walked across the Glass Bridge which also had art work
in it and it actually crossed a busy freeway. What a feeling to look
down and see all the cars underneath us. The glass art was beautiful
and so creative.
Last night we had our first rain. There were also some thunder. The
rain sounded so nice on top of the motor home.
Today was rather cool. I sure will not complain about the weather
since it is hot at home or at least in the high 90's.
We are not sure when we are returning home but it will be by July 21
due to a dentist appointment for Ric.
We wish you all a happy and safe July 4. Keep in touch. We always
enjoying hearing from you.
Love and regards to you all,
Mom, Dad, Grandmother, Granddaddy, Ric and Jan(ice)
