As many of you know, we had plans to travel to Alaska this summer.
We have sadly cancelled our trip. We were going with our good
friend's Dale and Val Hood from Florence Oregon. Mid April they were
out riding their motorbikes on Hwy 101 near Florence and somehow Val
swerved into the path of an oncoming car and was killed instantly.
We were all shocked and very saddened by her accident. It has taken
me this long to finally sit down and write about it. We went up for
her services and stayed around to be with Dale for a couple of
weeks. He is doing well and slowly adjusting to life without her.
He has a good support group at church and many friends there. We
left our motorhome at his place and we plan to pick it up in July and
go on to WA and spend some time in WA and then back to OR and on
home. Life is so precious and we only have now so treasure it.
Ric is having some major dental work done so we need to stay around
for that. Other than that we really have no plans. We do know that
with the price of gas we will not wonder too far from CA. I am so
grateful that we made all our trips across country that we have in
our motorhome as we probably will not do it again. We will fly back
to MD and rent a car for our volunteer work that we love to do.
Things change.
We are both very well and enjoying life as it comes. Out third
granddaughter, Chelsey, promotes from 8th grade tomorrow night and we
are having a party for her at our house. It will be family and close
friend and will be fun.
