Finally in Oregon

Tuesday, February 13, 2008 Happy Valentines' Day

Hi all,
After almost 3 months in Live Oak with lots of rain and a chance we
would not make it to Oregon this winter, we finally did make it. We
left home January 30 after a weather report looked fairly decent for
taking the coast route, 101 to Oregon. We left in sunshine, went
through some snow on the coast range, some light rain but no wind and
arrived in Florence, Oregon in 2 days. It was a good trip and we were
glad to finally arrive to see our friend's, Dale and Val Hood's new
home. They had just moved in and it is beautiful It is a Palm Harbor
manufactured home and it is very impressive. It fits their property
well which is in the forest and is lovely.
We spent a week and a half in Florence and certainly enjoyed our time
there. We had rain most every day but it is nonetheless a very pretty
town.
My apple ibook crashed before we left home and so I was unable to do
much writing. David got me a newer Mac Powerbook but we had to go to
Seattle to get it. So we traveled to Seattle in the car and were gone
for three days. We enjoyed the Super Bowl up there where we met David
and Angel and he transferred all my data from one computer to the
other. I had some issues with the new computer and we finally got
them solved last night. David is so patient with me as I am very
technically challenged, and we spent time on the phone as he walked me
through things. It is hard to believe I could have given birth to
someone who is so technically proficient. Thank you David!
Monday morning we moved 45 miles north up the coast to the town of
Newport, OR. We will be here almost two weeks before we return to
Florence to Dale and Val's house where we will leave the motorhome
hopefully for only a few days. We will drive the care to Travis AF
Base in CA where Ric will have some dental work done. We hope to
return shortly but it depends on his appointments. We are living
these couple of months in limbo but being retired certainly helps.
Today is sunny and beautiful here. We are parked just across from the
ocean and we can hear the roar of it all the time. There are some
really huge waves this time of the year. It is such a majestic sight.
We trust this finds you well and enjoying life as much as we are.
Traveling in an RV is a wonderful way to see the country and we both
recommend it. Some of you are doing just that and know what we mean.
Some of you can't and we understand and others of you have to still
work and we know that feeling too. One day................
Our love and best to you all.
